What's being reported
GamesBeat, an established games business outlet, says Rockstar is aiming for a calendar Q1 2027 release on PC. All four of its sources asked not to be named. That's normal for reports like this, but it means nobody outside can check the claim, so treat it as a rumour until Rockstar says otherwise.
The timing does make business sense. January to March 2027 falls in the last quarter of Take-Two's financial year, which is when a second big launch would help its yearly numbers.
Why the PC wait has always been long
Rockstar has a history of making PC players wait:
- GTA 4: about seven months
- GTA 5: about 19 months
- Red Dead Redemption 2: just over a year
John Ricchio, a former Rockstar producer who worked on GTA 5, said earlier this year that console-first launches are about "resource management", not dislike of PC. Fixed console hardware gives the team clear limits from the start, and the PC version is easier to build on top of that.
On paper, a four-month gap would be shorter than any of those. It would also be a big change from how GTA 5 was handled.
What it means if you're waiting in India
