The short version
- A PlayStation insider who posts as Mille A says Sony's current roadmap targets a PS6 announcement in early March 2027, with the wording "as of today", so the date could still move. ComicBook.com reported the claim on October 31.
- A separate report from GameGPU describes a three-step plan: a Mark Cerny technical presentation in March, a bigger summer 2027 showcase (reportedly including a "DualSense 2"), and a holiday 2027 launch.
- Sony has confirmed none of it. Sony's CEO said in August that the launch timing hasn't been decided.
- A March reveal would match how Sony launched the PS5: a deep-dive tech talk first, games and hardware design months later. Pricing is the bigger worry, with leaks pointing well above the ₹69,990 PS5 disc model.
What the new reports say
The Mille A post. ComicBook.com's Tyler Fischer relayed an X post from Mille A, whom he describes as having a decent track record with PlayStation leaks. The post says the current roadmap aims for an early March 2027 announcement. Fischer reads that as the first two weeks of the month, and takes it as a sign Sony is confident about a holiday 2027 release. That second part is his inference, not the leaker's.
The GameGPU report. A day earlier, on October 30, GameGPU published a more detailed account, credited to "industry circles" and a YouTube source rather than a named leaker:
- An early-March technical reveal aimed at developers and enthusiasts, led by Mark Cerny, the PS5 and PS5 Pro lead architect, in the style of his 2020 PS5 talk.
- A wider summer 2027 showcase with games and a new DualSense 2 controller.
- A retail launch in holiday 2027.
- Chips that have reportedly already reached production on silicon wafers.
Nothing links the two reports, but they agree on the month, which is worth something. Neither comes with documents, and both should be read as unconfirmed.

How Sony revealed the last two consoles
Sony doesn't reveal a console in one go. It drips it out:
- PS4: announced at a New York event on February 20, 2013. Sony showed games and the controller but not the console itself, which came at E3 that June. It launched in November 2013.
- PS5: Cerny's "Road to PS5" technical talk came on March 18, 2020. It covered the SSD, the GPU and the audio chip, but no games and no box. The console design and launch games followed at a June 11, 2020 event, and the PS5 launched in November 2020.
So "early March, then summer, then holiday" is almost exactly the PS5 playbook. Both consoles launched roughly eight to nine months after the first reveal. A March 2027 talk would leave the same gap before a November or December 2027 launch.

What Sony has actually said
- October 2025: in a PlayStation video about Project Amethyst, Sony and AMD's shared work on machine-learning graphics, Cerny said the new features "only exist in simulation right now". He was excited to bring them to "a future console in a few years' time". He didn't say PS6.
- August 2026: Sony CEO Hiroki Totoki told the Wall Street Journal that Sony has not yet decided when to launch its next console, and that the company must act to survive in the current market. Earlier in the year he had warned that memory prices would be very high in Sony's 2027 financial year.
The second point matters more than any leak. A March reveal is a marketing decision. The launch date depends on whether Sony can get memory at a price that makes the console sellable.
The other timelines doing the rounds
- KeplerL2, a leaker with a good record on AMD hardware, has said the PS6 is on track for 2027 unless something unexpected happens. In June he called the console "basically done".
- Analyst Piers Harding-Rolls of Ampere Analysis said in August that his current expectation is a launch at the end of 2028.
- Other reports have floated a delay to 2028 or even 2029, mostly tied to the memory shortage. Samsung and SK hynix both expect supply to stay tight for years. See our SK hynix shortage story.
A March 2027 reveal doesn't rule out a later launch. Sony could announce the console and still hold the date until costs settle.
What it means for prices in India
No PS6 price has leaked, but the cost signals are bad. KeplerL2 says the PS6's RAM and storage alone now cost Sony over $680. Outlets have worked out that this points to a price above $1,000 (roughly ₹95,000 before Indian taxes). We covered that in PS6 could cost over $1,000. For comparison, the PS5 disc model sells for ₹69,990 in India today. There's also a separate PS6 handheld reportedly in the works.
If the reports are right, the first thing to watch is early March 2027. Expect a Cerny-led talk about the chip, the SSD and AI upscaling, not games or a price. The price would most likely come with the summer showcase.
