The short version
- Bend Studio, the Sony team behind Days Gone, will reveal its next game in 2027 and is aiming to release it that year too, according to an MP1st report from October 31 based on anonymous sources.
- The game is said to be third-person with co-op, and not a live-service game. It's also not Days Gone 2. Whether it's a new series wasn't shared.
- This is unconfirmed. Sony hasn't commented, and MP1st itself says plans could still change.
- No platforms or prices yet. For context, Days Gone costs ₹2,499 on Steam in India, and Sony's PS5 games usually launch at ₹4,999 or more.
What the report says
MP1st's story cites people who know what's happening at Bend but didn't want to be named. Their claims, in short:
- The next project will be revealed sometime in 2027.
- Bend is also aiming to release it in 2027, because the game is much further along than outsiders might think.
- It's played in third person and has co-op.
- It is not a live-service game, and not a Days Gone sequel.
VGC and Push Square picked up the report on November 1 and 2, both crediting MP1st rather than their own sources. That matters: so far there's one outlet's anonymous sourcing behind this, not several. MP1st adds its own warning that Sony could still add live-service features or cut co-op before launch.

Why "not live service" is the headline
Bend has spent most of the last five years on a project nobody has seen. Here's how it got here:
| When | What happened |
|---|---|
| 2000 | Sony buys Eidetic, the studio behind Syphon Filter, and later renames it Bend Studio |
| April 26, 2019 | Days Gone launches on PS4 |
| Dec 2020 | Days Gone's two most senior leads, writer-director John Garvin and game director Jeff Ross, leave the studio |
| May 2021 | Days Gone reaches PC |
| 2021 | Sony says Bend is working on a new game building on Days Gone's open-world systems |
| January 2025 | Sony cancels Bend's live-service game, along with a God of War live-service project at Bluepoint |
| April 2025 | Days Gone Remastered releases on PS5 |
| June 2025 | Bend lays off about 30% of its staff, around 40 people, Bloomberg reports |
When the layoffs hit, Sony said Bend had "wrapped development on a live service concept" and decided not to move forward with it. The new report fits that story. Bend appears to have gone back to a structure closer to its strengths: a game you can play through, now with friends, rather than one built to run for years with a battle pass.
Co-op without live service isn't unusual. Games like It Takes Two and Split Fiction are built entirely around two-player co-op and sell as normal one-off purchases.
How believable is it?
This one rests on unnamed sources, and nobody has confirmed it independently yet. The details are also fairly general: no genre, setting or name. That makes it harder to disprove and easier to be partly right. Our guide to how game leaks happen covers why insider reports like this sit in the middle of the trust scale.
The 2027 timing is at least plausible. A game that started as a separate project before January 2025, then had its direction reset, could reasonably be far along by now. Revealing and releasing in the same year would also keep the gap between announcement and launch short.

Where Days Gone fits in
Days Gone was a zombie-filled open world set in Oregon, built around motorbike travel and huge "horde" swarms of enemies. It earned a Metacritic score of 71 at launch, but sold well and has a loyal fan base, which is why "Days Gone 2" keeps coming up. The report says this isn't it, though it doesn't rule out Bend reusing the open-world and horde tech it built for that game.
If you've never played it, the PC version is ₹2,499 on Steam in India, and the PS5 remaster is on the PlayStation Store.
What to watch for
Sony usually reveals first-party games at its State of Play shows, so that's the likeliest place for a 2027 reveal. Until then, treat third-person co-op as a credible report, not a confirmed plan.
