The short version
- The Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station says Oppo has suspended development of its Ultra phones, starting with this generation's Find X10 Ultra, which was expected next quarter.
- The two reasons given: phone chip prices have become "insane", and buyers are moving away from tall, narrow phones towards wider screens.
- Oppo is said to be testing a 6.35-inch phone with a 16:9 screen, wider than current flagships, plus a camera product with a gimbal.
- Oppo hasn't confirmed any of this. The Find X10 Pro Max and Find X10 are already on pre-order in India and aren't affected.
What the leak says
Digital Chat Station, one of the most followed phone leakers on Weibo, posted the claim on November 6, as reported by Notebookcheck. According to the posts, development of Oppo's Ultra line has been paused, including the Find X10 Ultra. Asked whether this starts with this generation or the next, the leaker said this one.
That would mean the Find X10 Ultra may never launch. Only last week, leaks were discussing which chip it would use, which we covered in our post on the Find X10 Ultra's chip.
Digital Chat Station has a strong track record on Chinese phones, but this is still a leak. Oppo hasn't said anything officially.
Why: expensive chips and wider phones
The leaker gave two reasons.
Chip prices. Flagship phone chips and the memory that goes with them have become much more expensive this year. An Ultra phone uses the best of everything: the newest Snapdragon or Dimensity chip, lots of RAM and storage, and a big battery. Notebookcheck's reading is that a phone like that would end up too expensive to sell in large numbers. Memory makers have warned the shortage will get worse, as we covered in Samsung's latest results.
Wider phones. The other reason is a shift in what people want. Most flagships today are tall and narrow, with screens around 20:9. The leaker says buyers are moving away from that "candybar" shape.
Oppo isn't alone. Notebookcheck notes that Xiaomi's 18 Ultra was also reportedly cancelled over its cost, and that the iQOO 16 Ultra may not come in 2027. A separate leaker on X claims the Find X10 Ultra's India launch was already off.

What Oppo is reportedly working on instead
According to the same leaks, Oppo's 2027 line-up will be smaller, with fewer Find X phones and a focus on wider designs:
| Reported device | Details (all unconfirmed) |
|---|---|
| Wide flagship | 6.35-inch screen, 16:9, 2560 x 1440, about 1mm bezels, body about 81mm wide |
| Its chip and sensor | Flagship Dimensity chip and 3D ultrasonic fingerprint reader on test units |
| Later variant | Possibly a slimmer, camera-focused version |
| Gimbal camera product | Reportedly a 200MP, 1/1.12-inch main sensor, possibly with Hasselblad or Zeiss |
An 81mm-wide body would be noticeably wider than the Find X9 Ultra. That's closer to the shape of a passport than a remote control. It isn't clear whether Oppo's N-series foldables are affected.
What it means in India
If you were waiting for the Find X10 Ultra, the leak suggests you may be waiting for a phone that won't come. The phones you can actually buy are the Find X10 Pro Max and Find X10. Oppo India's site shows pre-orders are live, with a free gift box and up to ₹8,000 in exchange bonus. Oppo India's site doesn't list prices for either phone yet, so we couldn't confirm them.
The current Ultra, the Find X9 Ultra, is still listed on Oppo's India site with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a 6.82-inch 144Hz screen, a 7,050mAh battery and Hasselblad-branded cameras, including two 200MP sensors. It shows as out of stock, as do the other Find X9 and X8 models.
On paper, the timing makes sense. With memory and chip costs rising, an Ultra phone in India could easily cross ₹1.5 lakh. That's a hard sell when the Pro Max already has a triple 200MP camera system. We covered how high flagship prices are going in our post on November's India phone launches.
What to watch
Watch for an official word from Oppo, which usually teases its Ultra phones on Weibo weeks ahead of launch. If those teasers don't arrive in the first quarter of 2027, the leak will look right. Also watch for the wide 16:9 phone. If it appears, it would be one of the first big flagships to break from the tall-and-narrow shape.
